My Reasons

Malaki

Fall of 2021, during the first football game of the season Malaki suffered an almost career ending injury. I was honored to take pictures at his senior night football game where everyone recognized him by wearing baby blue. He along with his parents, were at every baseball game, supporting his teammates no matter the weather or what was going on in their lives. On May 20, 2022 he threw his first pitch for the final out for the 24 to 3 win. For his senior baseball night, not only did he get to pitch but also it a single which was a huge accomplishment.

With Malaki being one of my bestfriends, behind the lens I had tears in my eyes through all of this. Seeing how far he's come and how much he's overcame while being able to capture memories for his parents means the world to me. Not to mention, during his first pitch I got a shot right after he let go of the ball, and his first hit I got a shot of the ball on the bat which is a goal I've worked towards.

The Slogor's

I've known of the Slogor's since elementary school latchkey. I really got to know them better my junior year. Their family has shown me immense support and are always the first to view my gallery's. I've loved capturing Braden's improvement from last year to now and Tessa's spunk on the field that the team needs. Both being on Varsity, as freshman, they are very good at what they do. They inspire me to keep practicing and pushing towards my goals, as well. Their parents taught me to always say "Hi" to someone and being friendly at games makes a slow game go by fast.

The Matzke's

The Matzke's have been very supportive of my work and are always the first to ask when the gallery will be done. In the last game before districts, Ty (little brother) got to pitch to Garrett (big brother). They've been playing baseball together their whole lives and now their time playing together is coming to an end. Seeing the thrill on their Grandmas face made me realize why I'm doing this. They can be reminded of their last season together and they can forever cherish the pictures of them playing together. Their parents are another reason I genuinely enjoyed taking photographs of this team. When I showed up without my camera, they would ask "Why not?" They continually complimented and appreciated my work.
